About Caballeros

In March of 1999, while rehearsing for a concert as part of a choral group in the Coachella Valley, a number of gay men lamented that there was no gay men's chorus in Palm Springs. Deciding to take action a group of five men agreed to spend whatever time it took to get an underlying organization in place.

A community sing was held in late July, auditions were set up and music selected, and in mid-September 1999 a new music group was born: Caballeros, The Gay Men's Chorus of Palm Springs.

Although young by the standards of most other gay choruses, Caballeros has in six years established itself quickly as one of the premier singing groups in the Coachella Valley. Caballeros currently includes approximately 75 members in five different sections: Four of the sections are singing, including, Tenor I, Tenor II, Baritone and Bass; and one section, Section V, is made up of non-singing volunteers who support the singers in many way by helping our concerts become a reality through back of the house-, promotional- and administrative-support.

In addition, a separate ensemble of 12 Caballeros singers was formed in 1999, now named Los Amigos. Los Amigos add variety to each Caballeros concert by singing intricate songs of tight harmony best suited for small groups.

Facilitating the work of the chorus—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation—is a nine-person board of directors.

Caballeros, The Gay Men's Chorus of Palm Springs, is proud to be part of the Palm Springs Community and the Greater Coachella Valley. The Chorus is dedicated to excellence in the performance of men’s choral literature, strives to build a sense of community and positive self-image among gay men and women, and to provide important bridges of understanding to the community.
