
The Artistic Director of Caballeros is Alan Scott. Alan holds a
Bachelor degree in Church Music from Manhattan (KS) Christian College,
a Bachelor degree in Vocal Performance from The University of South
Alabama (Mobile), and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting
from The University of Alabama. His choral conducting experience
includes work with choirs at Temple Isaiah in Palm Springs, St.
Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, and a host of churches in
Kansas and Alabama. He was the Charter Director of the Heart of Dixie
Male Chorus in Mobile, Alabama, and Founder & Director of the Alan
Scott Chorale in New York.
Alan brings a lifetime of music-making experience to Caballeros. He was born into a musical family, and made his first public solo singing appearance (aside from church solos), at the age of twelve, in a Mobile Opera Production of La Boheme. He has appeared in many regional and national touring opera and musical theater productions, including lead roles in Godspell, Li’l Abner, Carousel, The Sound of Music, Annie, Company, and Phantom. In addition, Alan has served as musical director for productions of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Smoke on the Mountain, Dark of the Moon, and The Prince and the Pauper.
A former National Association of Teachers Singing champion, he was Baritone soloist in the American Choral Directors’ Association Regional Convention presentation of the Fauré Requiem, and in the Tuscaloosa Community Singers’ production of Mozart's Mass in C Minor. He has sung with the New York Choral Artists accompanied by the New York Philharmonic, the Concertgebau Orchestra of Amsterdam, and the American Symphony Orchestra, all at Avery Fisher Hall in New York.
